Do we Need to Detox our Armpits?!
The short answer here is NO. The longer answer is below...
Why we do not endorse a detox product for underarms
There's a product that we've never considered formulating here at No3, because there really is no such thing - and that's a 'detox' for underarms. Over the years we've seen opinions regarding the need to detox underarms before switching to natural deodorants. Just because something is on social media or in a magazine article, doesn't mean it is based on fact and backed up by science.
In fact, the concept of "detoxing" armpits before switching to natural deodorant isn't supported by scientific evidence. The idea behind armpit detox is that that transitioning from conventional antiperspirants to natural deodorants requires a period where the body eliminates built-up toxins.
Conventional antiperspirants usually contain aluminum, which blocks sweat ducts, reducing the amount of sweat produced. When you swap these out for natural deodorants, your body will work its own magic, along with the help of a little soap and hot water. The transition does not require a 'detox' process.
Our bodies naturally eliminate waste and toxins through our kidneys and liver, not primarily through the armpits. Yes, sweating through the skin eliminates a tiny amount of waste products, but it is not the primary mechanism for detoxification. So eat well, exercise regularly, wash your underarms, and you will be winning!
